RedVac Newborn Transport System
Meditech is the exclusive distributor for the RedVac Newborn Transport System which is manu-factured by Kohlbrat & Brunz in Austria. This system has been used in Europe for many years and we have tailored some of its features to suit the UK ambulance market.
The device has been designed for a pre-term / new born baby (with no minimum weight limit) up to a 6 month old baby (approximately). It has an internal heating element which regulates the temperature to exactly 42°C. The temperature is continuously measured from the element to the patient by a temperature sensor. The running time of the integrated battery is 2 hrs from fully charged (depending on the ambient temperature / patients body temperature). To increase the operating time, an external power bank can be connected to the transport system or you can plug the device into the ambulance power supply via a USB-C cable.
The device has two separate vacuum chambers. One acts as a ridged back board which keeps the baby in neutral alignment from the moment they are placed in the system. The second chamber wraps around the baby keeping them secure. Wipe clean straps also add to the ba-by’s security. An optional wipe clean blanket can be added if required.
The system has been designed to be easy to use and quick to attach to the ambulance stretch-er ( compatible with all stretcher types). The concept is for the baby to be placed into the device from point of birth, remaining in the system until they are passed over to the hospital staff. The system fits into a small and compact carry bag that fits into current ambulance storage areas.
